On 28 October 2017, Fo Guang Shan Melbourne held the Three Refuges and Five Precepts Ceremony. Venerable Huikuan, the director of Beijing Guangzhong Education and Culture Center, presided over the ceremony. Nearly 200 followers attended with 60 followers taking vows to take refuge and find the home of their faith.
