Buddha’s Birthday Education Project App

The Buddha’s Birthday Education Project (BBEP) app is available for both Apple iOS and Android mobile devices. The app is free of charge and can be downloaded and installed via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

This project aims to inspire and educate people about the historic birth of the Śākyamuni Buddha and, in doing so, integrate Buddhist wisdom within a modern context.

The Buddha’s Birthday Education Project (BBEP) documents the spread of Buddhism along the Silk Road and charts the migration and localisation of the religion from its origins in northern India, along the Silk Road and onwards to many parts of Asia and, subsequently, into the West.

The project also acknowledges that our forefathers recognised the importance of the Buddha and therefore have celebrated his birthday in many different ways. As the canonical records are not easily accessible, this project team has transformed them into artworks, music and multimedia applications.

Our localisation work takes the perspective of today’s audience. The aim of the BBEP is to explain and give context to rituals that may appear foreign to people who have not grown up with the Buddhist tradition.

We hope that BBEP may be a stepping stone towards embracing happiness and peace in multicultural and multi-faith societies worldwide.

Dharma Words App

The Dharma Words app was developed by Beautiful Life Television and is available for both Apple iOS and Android mobile devices. The app is free of charge and can be downloaded and installed via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The Dharma Words app affords users the opportunity to go through the following process anytime anywhere:

  • Recite the “Sakyamuni Buddha” x 3
  • Prostate to the Buddha x 3
  • Join palms
  • Make 3 offerings
  • Silently ask a question and pray piously
  • Receive Dharma Words
  • Read an explanation of the meaning

Venerable Master Hsing Yun introduced the “Dharma Words” as a way to share the Buddha’s teachings and inspirations with devotees and visitors.

The “Dharma Words” differ from fortune telling in that they do not determine the fate of a person. Their purpose is to explain the Buddhist concept of karma – performing good deeds will bring good merit while wrong doings will bring bad karma.

Dharma Words App

The Mindful Check-In app was developed by Nan Tien Institute and is available for both Apple iOS and Android mobile devices. The app is free of charge and can be downloaded and installed via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

It allows us to transit from one setting to another. Be it a different physical location or a different group of people, checking in gives us an opportunity to get the body and mind ready for the new setting.

The body and mind know how to adjust so that they can be balanced and peaceful. Take a moment to adjust the time you would like to meditate. The default is one minute. When you are ready, you may start the check-in app. Enjoy the process.
